Millions of people marketing on the Internet try to
grab the attention of all the rest daily. How does a
beginner, a “newbie”, if you will, figure out how to
write an ad that pulls in responses?
First, do we even want to write our own ads, what with
the so-called tested ones that come with our affiliate
programs? The answer to that is, “Yes!” Your
individual ad writing ability can mean your ads get
noticed and leave the prewritten ones behind.
Here are 10 steps to writing ad copy that will work
for you and increase your profits immeasurably.
1. Narrow your market to a specific group of
prospective clients. Find your niche market.
2. Analyze your website. Does it appeal to your niche
market? If it does, tailor your ads to relate directly
to your website.
3. Appeal to the impulse in the viewers of your ad.
Call your readers to action * now*. Cause your readers to
click a link to your sales letter. Emphasize the benefits of
reading that letter. Offer something free in the ad itself,
“just for looking”. Perhaps a free copy of your newsletter
or a free Ebook you’ve added to your site would do the
trick.
4. Use outside resources to create your ad.
Draw from sources like junk email and free classified
ads. Analyze the work of others. Notice ideas that
grab you and call you to action now.
5. Design “killer” headings. What types of headings
get major attention? Headings with all capital letters?
Headings that take up the entire heading field of the ad?
Use caps sparingly for emphasis, and don’t pile on words
just for length.
6. Avoid hype. Don’t over sell your product or service,
discouraging your prospects even before they get to your site.
Relay your excitement about your product through your own
experiences, not unbelievable exaggerations.
7. Proofread. It’s crucial to your success in ad writing,
and online generally. Check your spelling, grammar, and
punctuation. Be rigidly careful. Test links to make sure they
work *and * actually lead to the places you intend them to
go.
8. Test your ad for efficiency. You can’t over-test. Use
your ad in many media, including the newspaper classifieds.
Track where your ad pulls from by using free or paid tracking
services that are out there. Look to your affiliate program for
good tips and instructions on ad tracking.
9. Keep a winning ad working for you. Keep submitting
it to new places. A few sales will never wear out a good ad.
10. Submit only to places where your target market will
be looking. This will save you time, money, and unwanted
attention from would be spammers.
Now promise yourself this: You’re going to get your
ads noticed by writing them yourself and taking these
steps to advertising success.

3 WAYS TO GET MORE SALES WHEN YOU ADVERTISEBob Leduc
Here are 3 powerful marketing tactics you can use to get innumerable sales the next time you advertise. All 3 work for any business. And you can use them compellingly on the Internet or in traditional media.
1. PROMOTE 1 THING AT A TIME
Most people dislike making a decision to buy something when it forces them to reject or delay buying something else they also want. They’re afraid to make a decision they may regret later. Many prospects faced with this choice spend a lot of time evaluating their options. They can’t make a clear choice so they make NO decision at all .and you lose a sale.
That’s why it’s in addition compelling to promote only 1 product or service each time you advertise. Develop separate ads, web pages, sales letters, etc. to promote each product or service you offer. Limit your prospect’s decision to only “Yes” or “No” instead of “Yes”, “No” or “Which One”. You’ll get greater “Yes” decisions this way.
TIP: Sometimes you can successfully combine 2 or higher related products or services into a special offer. But limit your customer’s decision to “Yes” or “No”. Don’t include an option to buy any of the items separately.
2. DRAMATIZE THE GOOD FEELING
Customers buy from you because they want to enjoy the benefit produced by using your product or service. They want to get that benefit fast. And they want your product to be easy to use — or your service to produce results without disturbing their daily routine.
Keep this in mind as you develop your ads, web pages, sales letters and other sales tools. Use vivid word pictures to dramatize the pleasant feeling your customer will experience when he or she enjoys the benefit produced by your product or service.
Here are 3 examples of descriptive word pictures used by different businesses.
“No boss. No schedule. No debt. Money to buy what you want and time to spend having fun.” (Business opportunity offer)
“More prospective clients than you can handle will call you every day.” (Sales lead service)
“You’ll feel good, look younger and enjoy playing active sports without getting tired.” (Weight loss product)
3. FOLLOW UP PERIODICALLY
Most prospects will not buy from you the first time they hear about your product or service .or the first time they visit your web site. They may be very interested in what you offer. But other priorities prevent them from buying NOW.
You can recover many of these “almost sales” with a follow up system. Follow up systems produce very profitable sales because they don’t involve any advertising expense.
Your follow up system can be as simple as periodically contacting previous prospects with a new offer for your product or service.
Another convincing follow up method is to distribute an informative newsletter with topics related to your product or service. A newsletter automatically reminds prospects about you every time they get it. This is especially adequate for marketing on the Internet where your newsletter can be distributed free by email.
TIP: Develop a method to capture and save the names and contact information of prospects who didn’t buy from you. You need it to follow up.
Use these 3 marketing tactics to make your advertising major energetic and higher profitable. They will increase the number of sales you get without increasing your advertising costs.

Ask Jeeves ‘How Do I Get a Top Listing in your Directory’Merle
Millions of people enjoy using ‘Ask Jeeves,’ by simply typing
in a question and getting back relevant search results.
With many of the search engines/directories turning to pay
models, ‘Ask Jeeves’ now offers its own Text Sponsorship Program.
A text sponsorship ad consists of a title no longer than 40
characters and a description which can be up to 150 characters
in length. Your ‘text ad’ appears to the right on the search
results page every time someone does a search that includes
one of the keyphrases youve pre-selected. Only the top three
bidders for each keyword/phrase is shown, so in order to be
seen you need to be competitive.
Your text as will also appear on other search engines that
are participating in the ‘Ask Jeeves Network’. Partners
include famous brands like Direct Hit, MSN, and a few
others that are less known. Your ad on partner sites may
vary in position depending on each engine/ directory and
where they choose to display them.
In order to play you need to open an account (which will set
you back 25.00 US dollars). Ask Jeeves uses a CPM payment
model (which stands for cost per thousand). You only pay
when your text ad is shown, unlike Goto.com where you pay
per click. Ask Jeeves charges per impression with minimum
bids of keywords/phrases being 5.00 per CPM so that
translates into a 5.00 cost to you everytime your ad
is shown 1,000 times.
‘Ask Jeeves’ helps you choose your keywords and phrases
with a handy suggestion wizard. This is a good tool for
coming up with search terms you may have otherwise overlooked.
When setting your bid amounts, remember that you’ll only
be able to go with the minimum 5.00 per CPM if no other
advertiser has already placed a bid on your keyword/phrase.
If there are existing bids in the top three spots, youll
have to overbid one of them to get your text ad to be
shown for that word or phrase. All high bidders’names
and bid amounts are shown so you can plan your strategy
accordingly. Bidding is placed in .50 increments. For example,
if you wanted the search phrase ‘air purifiers,’ and the
top 3 bids are 6.00, 7.00 and 8.00, youd have to bid 6.50
to get the third position.
After setting up your account, you are given a user
name and a password so you can log in and add or delete
listings at will and change your bid amounts. Youll
also be notified by email if someone overbids you and
your listings are bumped, meaning youve been kicked out
of the top three. If you want to keep your place youll
need to log in and up your bid accordingly. Youll also
be notified if the money in your account is running low,
so you can replenish as needed.
As farther and increased search engines and directories turn
to a ‘pay for listing’ model, its wise to take advantage
of programs like Google and Ask Jeeves to make the most
of your advertising dollar. At least youll be paying
for targeted exposure and a top listing (instead of just
a listing).Youll also sleep better knowing your ad is
being seen by those searching for your keywords/phrases
and who are definitely interested in what youre selling.
and that, my friend, is your marketing dollar well spent.
