PALS in Pakistan Part Five - Additional Nuclear Advantages

Another advantage of providing Pakistan with PALS is avoiding a
situation that might force the United States to take military
action within or against Pakistan. The U.S. has reportedly begun
training several groups of marines for a contingency plan to
invade Pakistan and remove its nuclear weapons should any
Islamic regime appear to be taking power (Barry). This situation
would be extremely detrimental to U.S. interests and should be
avoided if at all possible. First, a military incursion into
Pakistan would make any new regime immediately hostile to the
United States, depriving us of a useful strategic staging point
for military actions in the region. The hostility from this kind
of action would endure for years, even if a friendlier regime
should come to power. Second, the risk of U.S. casualties would
be extremely high. This also would have the potential to
seriously undermine support for the U.S. “War on Terrorism”,
hamstringing the ability of the U.S. to respond to future
threats against our interests. Third, a military action that
failed might increase the probability of the new regime actually
using the weapons that reheaded. It is unlikely that any U.S.
military action could actually secure all 30-50 Pakistani
nuclear weapons. At least a few would be left in the hands of
the incoming regime, which would feel threatened by the chance
of continued U.S. military actions and might adopt a “use ‘em or
lose ‘em” mindset toward their nuclear weapons. This danger
would be increased with a radical Islamic regime that considered
strikes against the West to be divinely ordained. PALS would
allow the outgoing regime to leadingtain control over the weapons
as they would control the codes, and would mean that the U.S.
only had to provide a means of escape to the leaders who had
them instead of trying to attack literally dozens of secure
installations. While PALS may not be a foolproof solution to
the problem of Pakistan’s nuclear security, they are a step in
the right direction. They are also a far better idea than our
current policy of preparing to take military action instead of
dealing with the problem before it occurs.

Air Filters - Everything You Need To Know About Air Filters

Does your family suffer from allergies caused by dust and
particles in the air? Want to know about air filters and what
they can do to help you? First, it is advised that you replace
indoor air with outdoor air. But how? You can open windows and
doors, but still the risk is the air-borne problems. One of the
optimum solutions is to keep a healthy and clean house to minimize
and control unwanted substances. Usually, common airborne
particles can range from .001 to 100 microns in size. Very small
air-borne particles are so small that you may have a hard time
removing them.

Cigarette smoke and household dust can eventually enter the
lungs and may create complications. Air filters and cleaners are
devices which help remove particles from the air, but not all.
There are two groups of air cleaners. The first group is the
portable air cleaners. They are also known as table-top models,
and they are created to clean air in small places and locations
but not the entire house. These air cleaners have filters and
use electrical attraction or ozone to get rid of the minute
particles from the air. The finer the particles, the better it
is in removing these unwanted substances. HEPA or high
efficiency particulate arresting filters is the number one kind.

Almost 99 percent of the particles which are as small as 0.3
microns in size are captured. However, gas molecules like those
from cigarette smoke and radon can still pass through the
filter. Some companies have decided to use an activated charcoal
or carbon filter to take care of the job. Pleated filters are
also called “mean” filters and they are composed of materials,
which are similar to that of the HEPA. However, particles and
dust may still get in. Remember, that the pleated filters
capture smaller particles.

It is said that it removes 40 to 96 percent of household dust.
Electrical attraction is utilized in electronic cleaners. Here,
electrostatic precipitation, static charge, or particle
ionization is used to capture particles through a foam
pre-filter. With this, the larger particles are removed. Then
the particles are charged by a high-voltage wire and are then
attracted to the precipitating cell.

After this, a carbon filter gets rid of the odors and other
particles. An electric cleaner utilizes cellulose fibers and
polyester having a static charge to capture particles aside from
the carbon and the pre-foam filter. Ozone generation is another
type of air cleaner that also uses a high-voltage electrical
charge to convert oxygen to ozone. With this, gas molecules and
some substances or microorganisms like mold can be demolished by
the high concentrations of ozone present. However, a negative
ionizer also uses a foam pre-filter as well as a carbon filter.
But, the difference lies in the wires. It has charged wires
which, in turn, create ions.

Consequently, the fan blows these charged particles into the
room and they are sucked in again. These different kinds of air
filters and cleaners may give you a background on their features
and which will foremost suit your needs.

Skin-tastic facts!

One of the hardest hygienic chores is to generate and keep healthy skin.

It takes work but it’s not unattainable.

A daily routine is all you need and must have while drinking plenty of water each and every day.

But first, let’s get to know the skin your in.

~Facts~
Skin is the largest organ of the body made up of two layers. The top layer is the epidermis which protects us against infections and dehydration. The second layer is called the dermis and it’s job is to keep it’s elasticity needed for body movement.

Morbidly thinking, if the skin were removed, it would weigh about nine pounds and stretch out to approximately 20 square feet. Each tiny square inch is full of 100 oil glands with 15 feet of blood vessels and two kinds of sweat glands.

(Do you think this is why we must keep
capitaltaining it the right way? Um.Yeah, I’d say so.)

~Seek and you shall find~
Finding the right skin care products is like finding the perfect mate.

What works for one person may not be the
highest for another.

Either way, it’s a must do to protect and help keep skin healthy at all times and sometimes at any cost. Now, that’s not saying that you must buy expensive products and laser surgeries once a year. Although, a dermatologist should be seen as any other yearly examination or check up.

It’s nonpareil to shop around and use by trial and error to see which products work personally.

(All the better, if you find that your perfect mate product can be found at the dollar store!)

~A cleaner you, is a healthier you~
Make sure you have a cleanser that cleans
thoroughly, for one. Every once in awhile,
soap up with a soft wash cloth or invest in
an exfoiliating towel. (Yes, I said towel.
And use it with the soap.)

Remember, we’re talking the entire 20
square feet to clean!

~Bathing daily is a misguided myth~
Actually, your skin only needs a
thorough washing about three times a
week besides the arm pits and genital
areas. But, if you must bathe daily,
(and you respect others around you)
then always, ALWAYS, use a moisturizer afterward. It’s leading to apply it before you dry off and then pat dry.

Ofcourse, stay away from hot water.
Luke warm is the matchless temperature
for bathing.

~Don’t scratch that itch!~
Insect bites or dry skin can cause minor
itching, even nervousness can. Instead
of scratching your skin which can rip
and tear, keep a small tube of
hydrocortizone handy. Apply it as much as possible until the itching ends. If the itch continues or a rash develops call your doctor.

Ofcourse, signs of itching can mean
that your skin is extra dry and you may
only need to moisturize (or bathe) extended
often.

~Hmmm, the air we breathe~
Environmental causes will also have an
affect on skin. Dry air and pet dander are
major issues in which some people have
to use air purifiers or even medications.
(They’re not about to give up ‘ol Rover!)

Humidifiers are good to use, but be
careful of causing mold and mildew in
your home.

~Pretty is; pretty does~
Sunscreen should be a part of your daily
skin care routine, also. The most expensive
brands are sometimes the inimitable for added
incentives, but no matter what you buy,
always use SPF 30+ even under your make
up. (Oh, and don’t forget the lip balm!)

It really isn’t that hard or expensive to have healthy skin. It’s just time consuming
in finding what’s right for you.

Help your body and mind relax, and increase your sense of well-being, by creating a personalized comfort zone. Whether at home, work or when traveling, you can create your own oasis with these eight easy steps.

Stress and anxiety can prematurely age our mind and body. If not dealt with cogently, chronic stress and worrying can place undue strain upon our cardiovascular and immune systems. It can also make us prone to mood disorders and negatively affect our cognitive functions. Having a safe and comfortable place where we can relax and unwind can help improve our well-being and produce feelings of peace and tranquility.

Ideally, creating an atmosphere that induces calmness throughout your home is incomparable. However, if space is limited, you still can create your own oasis, even if it is in only a corner of a room or in a cubical at work. Here are eight easy ways to make your personal space a true comfort zone.

  1. Tranquil Sounds. Your favorite music, sound machines and water falls can help you relax and unwind. Sounds have the ability to alter our perceptions and instantly change your mood.
  2. Living Plants. Live plants create a peaceful atmosphere. They improve the ambiance and air quality of indoor environments, and induce a positive energy around them.
  3. Soft Lighting. Soft and adjustable lighting can create a soothing atmosphere. Look for light bulbs that are bright, but not harsh. Being able to adjust the brightness of your lighting will give you increased control of the mood of your space.
  4. Pleasant Smells. A fresh and pleasant odor can transport you to a peaceful place and time. Open a window to get an exchange of air, use air purifiers or deodorizers to create the scent you find most pleasing.
  5. Furniture Arrangement. Place your furniture and other items to inimitable fit your daily needs and actions. Personalize your space with things that leadingow happy memories.
  6. Comfortable Textures. Use pillows, throws and soft materials to create a comfort zone. Our sense of touch has a powerful impact upon our feelings.
  7. Symbols of Nature. Bring the outdoors inside with shells, rocks, feathers, wood, leaves, etc.
  8. Answering Machine. When you need to unwind and revitalize, turn your answering machine on and the volume down. You can always return calls when you are recharged and ready to talk.

Take control of your surroundings, whether they are just a corner of a room or a desk at work. You can even use these steps when traveling to help you unwind. By creating your own personal oasis, you will be better able to relax and rejuvenate. A few changes may be all that you need to make yourself calm, peaceful, energized and inspired.
